Members Gallery
Not simply a who’s-who of the A.F.M.R, our Members Gallery is a celebration of courageous champions! Yes, choosing to become a Moorish Rite Freemason and Order of Moorish Star SeaStar is a choice to become a champion in life and seize the day with vision and victory over fear and ignorance. Today. these champions walk in the footsteps of the Ancient champions, Masters of the tried and tested moralizing sciences! Fear paralyzes and ignorance destroys; but as vision restores, victory endures. Here are the champions, courageous fighters who confronted and challenged not only fear and ignorance, but multiple opposing forces, to emerge victorious. Victory is born of valor. And while the battle may be sour, the victory is always sweet.

After some travel on the journey of life, I was blessed with the Creator’s unction towards the Mysteries of the A. F. M. R. The lessons here imparted are desperately needed in this present era where lost souls roam the streets, let alone live, survive...! What's worth living for; is it family, love, peace, humanity, integrity, money? A question I ask myself everyday, and everyday I try to become a better self, a better me, a better version than yesterday. My roots are grounded in Anahuac, (Near the water) as called by my ancestors, or “In the belly of the moon” as historians imply, but today called México. I sail this journey not to impress anyone nor gain social status, but my aim is towards integrity, love, peace, and harmony between people and nations. I aim to regain my Moorish estate, in the proper state of mind that is. I comprehend what the process of building and collective effort can bring; this isn't someone else’s labor, this is everyone's right and responsibility. Would you grab your oar today, or would you let the currents direct your vessel? Peace Love Respect.

A proud Navigator of the A.F.M.R, I’ve been Sailing for over a decade now. The Ancient Free Moorish Rite has provided me with a spiritually centered and morally sound brotherhood, pure and inviting to anyone ready to take up your oar and row. We are inspired by the vision of our Avatar, the Illustrious Dr. Clifford E. Hazel Bey, the man responsible for our reemergence in this time dispensation. He said that Ignorance is our biggest enemy. The A.F.M.R dispels the darkness of unfamiliarity and spreads the light of acquaintance, one brother, and one sailor at a time. Are you ready to wade the waters and sail the seas of light? What's in your vessel?

I have been sailing with the Moorish Rite Sailors since 2019 and have enjoyed true and remarkable fraternity and brotherhood from Men of various creeds and walks of life. Aboard the vessel, I have enjoyed an expansion in my understanding of religion, spirituality, Freemasonry, and history all in an enhancement of my cultural expression and knowledge as a Moor. I also have gained opportunities to work and collaborate with others on projects and initiatives resulting in fostering my confidence in my fraternal and non-fraternal life.

Although it’s been a long and laborious Masonic journey, I have encountered many positive relationships. But I reached a point in my career where my light dimmed. Fortunately, a transition occurring in my journey had not revealed itself. Upon connecting with the A.F.M.R, my transition from material to spiritual light was found buried deeply here. And my last inspiration for the day is reflecting on our splice. No matter what happens no matter how hard the situations may get I will not let my brother go and our splice is strong. There's a science to the splice in its construction as well as its deconstruction and all we have to do to maintain it is hold on. Hold on to your faith hold on to your family and hold on to your spiritual heart which will never lead you in the wrong direction. Peace officers of the flagship and members of the Rite; have a great day... everyday.

As a proud and humble servant of the A.F.M.R, my passion and zeal is to bring forth light, aligning my vision with that of Dr Clifford E.Hazel Bey and our S.G.C. Everyday I create a better version of myself to be used by the Creator as a vessel of enlightenment; there’s an optimistic root embedded in my heart to inspire others and welcome them to principles of righteousness and purity. My A.F.M.R membership has put me on a nautical course of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, and I’m totally thankful for everything it has given me. Long live the the A.F.M.R!

When I became a Sailor, I knew I was going to gain knowledge of self, life, and fraternity; but I honestly wasn’t expecting to gain a true brotherhood, a family, and a support system like no other. The Supreme Navigator put the Moorish Rite in my path, therefore allowing me a choice, and permission to assemble in this Rite. His will; will be done. Being a Moorish Rite Freemason is one the best “life experiences” God has placed for me. I look forward to lifelong learning. Always remember the Supreme Navigator favors you, and has plans for you to help build our outstanding fraternity.

To be a member of AFMR is a bright beautiful insight and also a blessing. One day I woke up, and then began to take my adventure to study ancient history. I managed to obtain knowledge while gathering wisdom. I also matured as a man, to become more successful with what I wished to obtain by managing what I wanted to be done. By sharing advice that was given, I also learned a lot of what I was taught while embarking on this worldwide worthy journey.

Peace! As I raise my voice to emit light, I keep in mind Safety Afloat Begins Ashore, so I first tame the darkness that inevitably will attempt to rise as well, seeing that all light in actual truth originates in darkness. As we crack our seven that inner light will radiate, shining as the sun illuminates the moon. Before speaking I tame the darkness by tintinnabulation of ringing the words peace or Islam, then fumigating with the pure incense of a loving heart, which reeks the satisfactory perfume of knowledgeable, and wisdom of mind, which is applied by yielding/navigating to the spirit of love, truth, peace, freedom, justice, equality, and prosperity.

Honor and Gratitude to Our Avatar Dr. Clifford E. Hazel Bey & Sis. Bessie Hazel Bey. And to our Patriarch Angelo Soliman. I have been Sailing with A.F.M.R for a year now and I truly enjoy it. I was introduced to the A.F.M.R while researching Freemasonry online and its connections to the Moors. I was always interested in Freemasonry but I did not see where I fit into it culturally. One of my main inspirations for joining the A.F.M.R was due to the diversity of the rite. The A.F.M.R is rooted in Moorish Culture and I really like that. The A.F.M.R has Moors from a variety of cultural, ethnic, religious, and professional backgrounds. I grew up within a Moorish Cape Verdean and Portuguese culture, but I did not really comprehend the real historical significance. I really know now. I truly feel as if my Moorish Ancestors guided me to Ancient Free Moorish Rite. I am truly honored to be a Sailor among the ranks of the A.F.M.R.

I became a Moorish Rite Freemason because my brothers help me to be a better man in life, and that helps me to help my community become a better community. I love Sailing with the Ancient Free Moorish Rite!

Hail and Fraternal Greeting! Embarking on this journey and walk of life with the Moorish Rite has shined light and given confirmation to what already was, is, and evermore shall be. The A.F.M.R is literally a breath of fresh air to and for the initiate, and can be the start of a new life. From the cradle to the grave I will always have love for all the brothers and sisters of traditional and nautical Freemasonry. It’s truly an honor to be a part of the oldest fraternity in the world. When it comes to the Moorish Rite, I hold it high and close to my left breast.
